MEDIA ADVISORY-70-Foot High Platform For Eagle Nesting Box To Be Raised In Memory Of Boy Scout Leader, Employee: ST. LOUIS (Jan. 13): A former Missouri American Water employee and Boy Scout leader who built nesting boxes to improve eagle habitat throughout St. Louis County and helped many boys become Eagle Scouts will have two nests dedicated in his memory during Eagle Days at the Chain of Rocks Bridge.

LOUIS (November 24, 2009)—Anthony Thomas, who in May was selected to be the 2 millionth Eagle Scout in the 99-year history of the Boy Scouts of America, will be the Honorary Grand Marshal in the AmerenUE Thanksgiving Day Parade in St. Louis. Thomas, 16, is from Lakeville, Minn., and a junior at the Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, Minn. He joined Cub Scouts at age 7 and is a member of the Northern Star Council’s Troop 471, chartered to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, Minn. Adopted from Korea, Anthony volunteers as a camp counselor for Korean adoptees and spent part of his summer in New Orleans helping with the ongoing cleanup from Hurricane Katrina.

LOUIS — More than 30,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers helped the needy on Saturday as they collected 2.1 million cans of food during the 2009 Scouting for Food drive, sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors. The Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, collected more than 41 million cans of food during the 25-year history of the drive.

Jack O’Neill, National Chief of the Order of the Arrow, and Amanda Vogt, National Venturing President, will attend as the BSA’s top youth officers. They will arrive in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 28 and spend five days meeting government leaders and touring a variety of government facilities and landmarks.

NOVEMBER MEDIA ADVISORY-Scouting For Food Campaign Gathers 2.2 Million Cans (PDF): ST. LOUIS (NOV. 22, 2008)--More than 30,000 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers helped the needy on Saturday as they collected 2.2 million cans of food during the 2008 Scouting for Food drive. The collection was 6 percent larger than last year’s drive. The Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, collected more 37 million cans of food during the 24-year history of the drive.
